Saying goodbye to a special quilt

Posted by macroge1176 on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Today a special quilt I made went home so it was goodbye for me and wonderful to see how happy my dear friend Cindy is to have the quilt. This quilt was begun as an online class with Quilt University several years ago. The quilt top was completed in 2008 but remained unquilted until the first of March this year. There is nothing like the excitement and pressure of a quilt show to spur me on with creativity!

The quilt was made from a design in Bethany Renolds' book, Stack-n-Whackier Quilts. I used Oriental fabrics along with Michael Miller Fairy Frost fabrics to complete the quilt. The background needed to frame my fans so I took special care to make the quilting special. From start to finish I took care to make all the elements blend. I chose my fabrics in the quilt shop by using the Mirror Magic too so I could see what the "whacked" fans would look like completed. Sometimes I am impatient and pick fabrics like candy in a shop. This time though deliberation really paid off.
