I recently completed an Irish Wedding Quilt for a customer. She carefully chose green fabrics with my help. It was important to have Celtic symbols in the quilt so I really took some time to bring in the Celtic designs to bring the quilt together. This is a small quilt ...
Welcome to Loving Quilts!
About Us
Hello, my name
is Geri MacRoy.
I was born in Wisconsin and had early inspiration as l watched my
Grandma cut triangles of fabric using cardboard templates right at
her kitchen table. Grandma used an old treadle sewing machine to
piece her quilt tops. That old treadle is mine now and sits
in a place of honor in our home. Grandma would take me to the
carding mill to get real wool batts for her quilts. At the
time it seemed like magic. I am sharing a precious picture of
Grandma as a child in 1907.
Grandma is gone now but I have been learning ever since. I have been married for 40 years to Rich who is still my best friend. We had four children and I sewed their clothes and made simple quilts when I had the time. As the children grew I started doing custom sewing for brides and baby nurseries. One of my favorite things to do was to have a mom or grandma bring me their wedding gown for me to take apart to make an heirloom quilt and christening gown for an expected baby.
I always made time to go to classes and read every quilting periodical I could. The more I read I knew I wanted a Longarm Machine. I chose a Gammill Classic Plus so that I can really express my creativity while working with a reliable machine with a great support team behind me. I have always loved free motion sewing on a sewing machine. Now I have the ultimate machine to express my creative ideas.I attended Quilt Fest in Chicago and Machine Quilters Showcase in Kansas City. Recently I have had the pleasure of being a student of many well known teachers in the longarm quilting world. In the past year I have been taught by Linda Taylor, Sally Terry,Debbi Trevino, Julie Mullin, Dawn Cavanaugh, Jinny Beyers, Cindy Imdiecke, Karen McTavish and more. In October 2006 I participated in a 3 day Longarm Quilter's Retreat in Wisconsin where I earned a certificate from Karen McTavish for advanced heirloom quilting and trapunto.
Please be assured that your satisfaction will be my goal in any project you trust me with. Our home is smoke free and I am a fanatic about my sewing studio. Your quilt top will be treated with respect and care. I look forward to your business.
